At Seniors Helping Seniors® Southeastern CT, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner Maria Cerino firmly believes we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Mystic, Stonington, Groton, and surrounding communities.

Maria Cerino comes to Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services with a wide range of experience in insurance, healthcare administration and banking for more than 20 years. She has a Bachelor in Arts and Sciences (BAS) from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI.

Maria joined Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services after she faced her own personal difficulties of finding caring people to come work in her home when a family member lost mobility. She was working full time, caring for an ill family member and continuing to balance the concerns of the rest of her family. “I realized there was a huge need in the community to find a way for people to more easily connect with caring people who wanted to help," says Maria. There are so many people out there who want to help, who are caring and compassionate.  “When I left my prior career I wanted to find a way to help people. Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services gives me that opportunity - to work in a very rewarding way by helping to connect the most compassionate and caring people who are looking for ways to help others, with those who are in need of some extra help. It truly is ...a way to give and to receive,” says Maria. Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services is a national organization with sites throughout the country, providing care to seniors in many locations.

The organization was founded by Kiran Yocom who has a mission and a passion to help seniors live independently. Kiran’s personal interest in seniors grew out of her work with Mother Teresa. Kiran leads the organization through compassion and caring for all.  There’s nothing better than giving seniors the opportunity to help out another senior. The companion becomes a new friend to the family, creating a special relationship where both the person who helps and the one being helped give and receive equally. It is a win-win-win all the way. We’re part of the community.  Maria is working with the local community senior organizations to help people understand how the needs of older adults can be met. She often speaks about preventing falls, home safety, and how to utilize resources like in-home non-medical companion care to help seniors stay independent in their own homes. And look for informative articles in the local newspapers and other resources.  Contact our office for more information, at (860) 536-4767.

Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services provides solely non-medical services in Connecticut.
